IF ANYTHING IS EXCELLENT OR PRAISEWORTHY-THINK ABOUT SUCH THINGS.
PHILIPPIANS 4:8 NIV
Imagine that you were really serious about running in the London marathon. How likely is it that you’d go on a junk food diet before the big race? The fuel you put into something determines its performance. If you fill your diesel car with petrol you’ll break down! Just like our bodies, if you feed your mind with junk it won’t function in a healthy way. Think excellent thoughts (Philippians 4:8); if you do this it will transform you! What enters your mind repeatedly occupies it, shapes it, controls it, and in the end expresses itself in what you do and who you become. That’s the law of exposure. And it’s as sure as the law of gravity. Your mind will absorb and reflect whatever it’s exposed to. The events you go to, the stuff you read or don’t read, the music you listen to, the pictures you look at, the stuff you watch on TV and cinema, what you talk about, what you let your mind dwell on, are all shaping how you think, and eventually your character and your destiny. So what is the answer? Do a check up from the neck up! Start to pray: ‘Thank you Lord that you have given me the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), and I have the Holy Spirit who helps me to be self-controlled (Galatians 5:23). I thank You that as I do what Your Word says, and fix my mind on what is excellent, admirable, honourable, praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8), my mind will be cleaned up, made new and I will be transformed (Romans 12:2). Amen!
