Serving

SO JOSHUA DID AS MOSES HAD SAID TO HIM…

Exodus 17:10
If you’ve got a job or you help out at church or even just have chores around the house, think about Joshua. Josh served Moses, doing what Moses said but looked only to God for his reward. Your boss may pay you but he doesn’t decide your future; God does that! So what difference does that make? It means no job God gives you will ever be beneath you! When you pray ‘God, use me,’ He may well ask you to serve someone else. If you make the mistake of looking to that person for your reward and it doesn’t come, you’ll feel used and resentful. It’s God who sets the rules for you. God’s the one who requires you to honour Him by serving with submission (that means not moaning, groaning and giving it loads of attitude) and excellence. He’s the one who calls you to give the best you can. He’s the one who says it’s not okay to always turn up late and grumpy; or wait until your mum has asked you ten times before you get round to taking the bin out! Remember God rewards us according to our service; not what others think we’re worth. Sometimes we can be busy and wanting to be bigged up by people but we are not serving them. Stop striving and get back to serving! Listen, ‘God is not unjust; He will not forget your work…’ (Hebrews 6:10 NIV). Be encouraged; whatever tasks you face today remember that God records and God rewards; that should be enough for you!
