I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU OR FORGET YOU.
JOSHUA 1:5 NCV
Sadly, some of us think so little of ourselves that we make do with mates that treat us badly rather than be left alone. Being around others doesn’t guarantee you won’t be lonely; you can be around people 24/7, and still feel empty and used. God doesn’t like loneliness, He knows that people aren’t at their best if they feel isolated and alone. Listen: ‘The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone"’ (Genesis 2:18 NCV). God has made us to relate to others and to form and build good relationships that will encourage and inspire us. Sometimes, because we’ve been let down before we are afraid of being hurt again so we keep our defences up. We think if we don’t get involved with people we can’t get hurt, and as a result we isolate ourselves and end up lonely. If you’re feeling lonely right now, God wants you to know this, ‘I will not leave or forget you.’ (Joshua 1:5) Read that again. Let those words sink in deep. He really means it! He’ll never leave you all alone and He is so faithful. He knows that people let each other down – look at all the times in the Bible when the people He created let Him down! We all say things we don’t really mean and it’s so easy for a small disagreement to escalate into a huge fall out in a moment. But don’t let your past mistakes dictate your future choices. You’re a great person to know and there are loads of people who will be really blessed by having you as a friend.
