I DECIDE TO DO GOOD, BUT I DON’T DO IT.

Do you feel like you keep having the same fight over and over? Paul talks about this in Romans, ‘I decide to do good, but I don’t really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway’ (Romans 7:19 TM). Why does this happen? Well, when you try to make choices based on feelings you’re going too end up in a pickle. Sure, God gave you feelings and the ability to make choices, but He always intended that those decisions to be submitted to the leading of His Holy Spirit. Listen, ‘But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you ‘(John 14:26 NIV). A counsellor gives sound advice and who better to advise the choices you make than Him? The Holy Sprit cannot lie; He is the Spirit of God. Sometimes we have to fight battles in life that are impossible to win in our own strength. We look at what we’re up against and it’s quite obvious that it’s not a fair match. Hello! Surely you’ve not forgotten the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), When David looked at the giant he didn’t focus on his armour and massive spear; he knew that God was bigger than any giant and was on his side! Goliath was killed with one hit from a pebble. When you get your focus right your trust and confidence in God will grow, then all you’ll need is a ‘pebble’ of faith in action and your giant will come crashing down.
