Gotta get through this!
‘…keep your mind on Jesus… then you won’t get discouraged and give up.’ Hebrews 12:3 CEV
Tough times suck! Especially when you don’t know why everything is so pear-shaped. It’s easy to be left with questions or doubts when you don’t get a quick-fix answer through prayer, reading your Bible, or asking your leaders. But don’t worry; you’re in good company! David constantly asked ‘Why?’ in the Psalms and God didn’t give up on him. God knew he would stick at it and get through it (Acts 13:22). Endurance isn’t just about coping in tough times, but also about growing through them, and using your experience for God’s glory.
When you feel like you’re not getting answers to ‘why?’, start thinking, ‘I gotta get through this,’ and ask how you can. Today’s Bible verse says: ‘keep your mind on Jesus’. Keep looking forwards. Jesus endured ‘…the shame of being nailed to a cross, because He knew…later on He would be glad…’ (Hebrews 12:2 CEV) Why would He be glad later? Because He was looking ahead, to the result of His perseverance: pleasing His Father, building His church and saving a lost world.
Have the same end result in focus: to please God your Father, to build the church, and to play your part in saving a lost world! So get yourself a ‘Gotta get through this’ mentality. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and He’ll give you the strength to last it out, and fight on through to victory.
