‘I have set the Lord always before me.’ Psalm 16:8 NKJV
We’re quick at checking social media and we don’t it like when we forget to charge our phone. Why? Because we want to be easy to contact and to stay ‘in the loop’ at all times. It’s a shame we don’t quite have that same urgency with God. Be honest, if God were a friend on Facebook or Instagram, how often would you comment on His posts? If Jesus was a contact in your phone, how often would you ring?
Any second of any day, without internet connection or top-up credit, you are able to contact God. All the evidence of history shows how important prayer is. So why do we exercise our fingers on Tik Tok but doze when it comes to clasping them in prayer?
Frank Laubach suggested that you’ll think more clearly by including God. At mealtime put an extra chair at the table to remind you He’s always present. Set a picture of Jesus or a Scripture where you’ll see it as you’re falling asleep and waking up. Count on it—this will set the tone for your day.
Nobody’s saying you have to give up technology, but how about diverting some of that social media devotion God’s way? How about staying in regular contact with your Creator? Update your status with God and ‘know the Lord is always with [you].’ (Psalm 16:8 NLT)
