Don’t Give Up (2)

Don’t Give Up (2)
‘We are hard pressed…’ 2 Corinthians 4:8 NIV

Two other things about people who keep going:
(1) They aren’t afraid of failure: When we face failure, sometimes the biggest lesson we can learn is that we CAN keep going. You might fail, but if you don’t keep trying you’ll never succeed! Basketball legend Michael ‘Air’ Jordan says, ‘I’ve missed over 9000 shots in my career… lost over 300 games… 26 times I’ve been trusted to make the game-winning shot, and missed. I’ve tried and failed over and over again. That’s why I succeed.’ Remember Paul says: ‘We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don’t know what to do, we never give up.’ (2 Corinthians 4:8 CEV)
(2) They focus on changing WHAT they can: If you are facing stuff that is out of control, there is always one thing that you can control-YOU! Other people are out of your hands, events and circumstances can come crashing around you but YOU decide what your attitude or actions will be. In concentration camps, prisoners-of-war who routinely gave away their last bit of food proved that you can choose your attitude in any given set of circumstances. To choose to give, care, smile, forgive, or love is both good for others and us. Workers who chose to help by digging through the rubble to rescue survivors of the Oklahoma City bombing, though distressed, showed fewer symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder later. Paul says: ‘…whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord…’ (Ephesians 6:8 NKJ)
