JOB 1:21
‘PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD
Six years ago today an historical event happened known globally as 911. Terrorist attacks on America left the world shaken as the Twin Towers fell to the ground in New York City. As we remember those who lost their lives, the first question we ask is ‘God, why did this happen?’ It’s times like this that our faith is shaken or strengthened. We all know the easy answer that we have free will, we’re free to make our own choices and that day, those men chose to hijack those planes but there’s not much comfort in that answer. In the book of Job, we see similar questions asked. Job was a top guy with a great life who loved God a lot and God loved him back but Job was tested; it’s easy to worship God when life’s good but what about when it’s not going so smoothly? Job lost his animals, his farm, his servants and even his sons and daughters. Even so, Job was able to say ‘The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.’ How many of us say that?! You see, even though we may not want to hear it, the fact is that God IS good. Whatever we go through God still loves us. He never leaves us and proved that by sending us Jesus. Whatever we go through He still laid down his life for us! So remember, as we think of those who lost their lives six years ago remember, God IS good and still deserves all the honour and praise.
